How to Make Your Own Tutorial

This tutorial will give you the basics for making your own tutorials to add to your own site by covering basic techniques for screen capture.

Screen shots

To make a tutorial you will need to take screen shots of a window then edit that.

You will also either need to know html language or use an html editor such as FrontPage 98 or FrontPage Express.

Screen shots are easy. Open to the area to use and press the Print Screen button on your keyboard.  This will capture whatever is on your screen at the present moment into RAM (there are some exceptions).

Once this has been done..open your picture editor.  Windows ships with Paint.   However it will only save pictures in the high memory file type bmp.   Therefore you will need to use a program such as Corel or Adobe.  Once the picture editing program is open, go to Edit and then select Paste.  Your screen shot will appear on the window.

This is a reduced full screen shot of the texture editor.

You can then use the mask to select a portion of the pasted window and crop that to the selected image.  "Dancing Ants" will appear around the selected area.   Select Image and then Crop to Mask ( this will depend on your image editor )   Notice that in this shot the "Start Bar" was cut out.

You can also resize at will by going to Image and selecting Resample ( this will depend on your image editor ).

Once done, you must save the picture as a jpg.

Note: Some of the controls in Bryce will not capture with "Print Screen" ( e.g. object converter ).
