Home  | Gallery  |  Driven

Directions for PhotoShop

Open the image editor and open the perspective render.
Open the mask render
Open the desired background image.

All three image will be open at one time.

Go to your mask image through the Window option.
Now Select All
and copy.
Next select the perspective rendered image through the window menu (just like above) and create a new channel in this window by clicking the "new channel" button.
Select this new channel with your mouse and then paste the mask image into this new channel.

Paste the mask image by going to the edit menu and choosing paste.
While this channel is selected in the window, go to the file option for selection and choose none.
Next choose the mask wand for color selection and click the black area of the mask image channel.  This will select the black part of the image.
We don't want the black part of the image selected, instead we want the white part selected.  So from the selection menu, choose invert.
Now the white part of the mask channel is selected.  Click the eye at the top of the channel window that will allow you to see the entire image.
  1. Select the Layers tab
  2. Click the background layer as indicated to the right.
Now just as you did earlier, choose copy from the edit menu.  This will copy the areas selected in the window.  Currently this is the swords in this example.
Now switch to the background image through the window menu and paste the image onto the background.

Tada..you did it!

Go to Part3 of the mask Tutorial...Depth of Field effects

Site Note:

This tutorial should have laid the seeds for very detailed composite images.  You can repeat this process over and over with objects to make it appear that there are many objects in the scene.  This is one way to overcome RAM limitations.

Also this is not meant to be an all inclusive instruction on every possible way to have made the final image or produce the desired results.   Bryce offers zillions of wonderful ways to replicate, multireplicate, reposition, etc.  in its powerful interface. Experiment!
