| Perhaps one of the biggest questions
asked is 'How do I export objects from Bryce?'
|
|
| Bryce does have export abilities but the object (s) must meet certain criteria. | ![]() |
For an object to be exported it must be a mesh..i.e.
it:
If the "E" does not appear next to the selected object, you CAN NOT export it. |
![]() |
| Select the "E" to enter the edit window. The specific Edit window window that will open depends on the type of object selected. | ![]() |
| Once the edit window opens press "Ctrl + D"
on your keyboard and an export menu will appear which will allow you to export the object.
Assuming that all of the above criteria are met, you can use this feature to convert many formats from one to another. An example would be to import an object in 3ds format and export it in obj format. You can export it in many different formats as is indicated from the drop-down menu in the image to the right.
|
![]() |
| If the above criteria are not met, you can not export the object to a format that any other program can currently read. Nor can you export the entire file to a format that any other program can currently read. Bryce is currently a proprietory 3d format...ie, no conversion is available for a Bryce native object or scene that does not meet the criteria above. | |
| Why isn't the "Export
Object" menu available?
This menu option is only available when a terrain is selected. Thanx to Calyxa for that info. |
![]() |
| Why won't the
model I built in Bryce export?
The shapes made by boolean groups in Bryce are not an actual deformation of a mesh, instead they are a function of the rendering engine. The mesh itself IS NOT CHANGED in Bryce. The rendering engine calculates the shape based upon the attributes assigned to the objects in the boolean group. |
![]() |
| This 'non-deformation' is why you continue to see a blob of models piled together for your boolean model...and also explains why Bryce does not export boolean groups. | ![]() |

This is not meant to be an all inclusive instruction on every possible way to have made the final image or produce the desired results. Bryce offers zillions of wonderful ways to replicate, multireplicate, reposition, etc. in its powerful interface. Experiment!
